I agree with your writings and principals here-in.  We agree that numbers are indicators, but that people are the true drivers.  One thing that I think cannot be stressed enough though, is the key phrase "employees must know. . . that it is safe to express those ideas."  When we  look at communications from the viewpoint that safety is required to learn the truth, then we have to look at what 'safety' entails.  And that is where we go deeper into behavior and motivations.  It is the beginning of a path of introspection on the managers part.</description>
